East Highland Baptist Hartselle

Year Completed: 2005

Project Location: Hartselle, AL

Project Size: 15,000 Sqft Renovation & 11,000 Sqft New Construction

Construction Cost: $2,700,000

This project was conceived to accommodate the growing needs of the congregation at East Highland Baptist Church.  The church campus is located at a prominent entry into the historic town of Hartselle, Alabama, which meant that the addition to East Highland Baptist Church would be noticeable to many entering the town.

The Project consisted of a new sanctuary with seating for approximately 400 on the floor and a balcony shell space for growth for an additional 150 people.  The sanctuary is constructed of eight large arched wood beams that give the sanctuary its octagonal shape and its warm interior character.  The stained glass, visible from the exterior, was custom made for the tall arched window openings into the sanctuary.  Due to the steep slope of the site, an 11,500 square foot basement level shell space was constructed with on grade access and would allow for the future fit-up of a church fellowship hall.

Addressing the need to tie both the new construction with the existing building, a new entry lobby and gathering space was developed between the sanctuary and the existing facility.  New administrative offices were strategically located off of the lobby to accommodate easy way-finding within the campus.
