DanTera Salon, on Whitesburg

Year Completed: 2017
Project Size: 10,000 Sqft

The local owners of several Aveda branded salons purchased a building near downtown Huntsville, with the goal of opening another salon and spa in the ground floor of this 1960’s era building.

Working on a limited budget, Chapman Sisson Architects got right to work transforming the building and the interior spaces into the new DanTera Whitesburg Salon.  Because the building had a very low floor to floor height, the space was visually “raised” by the addition of new exterior windows along the north face, allowing light to flood the salon workstation area.  The majority of the ceiling structure was exposed and painted white further brightening the space and giving it a more modern look.  Backlit workstations and custom lighting were added, along with all other interior finishes to bring the space in line with the modern retail design requirements of the Aveda brand.  Updates to the building’s exterior include new windows, roofing, exterior color scheme, and a new synthetic wood sign panel.
