Auburn University Extension - Graham Farm Nature Pavilion

Year Completed : 2024

As an educational facility for the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES), in partnership with Auburn and Alabama A&M Universities, Graham Farm & Nature Center offers hands-on educational and research opportunities in an actual working farm environment.

The Graham Farm Nature Center pavilion building provides a “home-base” for many of the educational activities that occur throughout the year on the 491-acre farm located in rural Jackson County, Alabama. Enclosed program spaces include staff offices, a classroom, kitchen, restrooms, and showers, with a large open-air space that can host group events, meals and classes. Large wood trusses, stone veneer and exterior siding blend the building with its environment. Placement of the building takes advantage of eastern views towards a large pasture and the Appalachian foothills that surround the farm.

Since many of the programs include day events and overnight camping, the facility needed a building that could enhance the visitor experience by hosting group events such as camping, pancake breakfasts, corporate retreats, field trips and classes, while blending into the surroundings.
