Elkmont Elementary School

Year Completed: 2024
Project Size: 110,000 sqft

Elkmont Elementary School is a new facility for the Limestone County School System. One of several projects as part of a multi-year agreement, the new school serves 750 students Pre-K through 5th grade. The school has 48 classrooms, art and music rooms, media center, cafeteria, and a regulation size gymnasium. The gym doubles as a storm shelter, meeting all ICC-500 requirements.

Working closely with school administrators, Chapman Sisson Architects designed the project with the latest security and technology measures in mind. The layout of the school provides a clear line of sight from one central location, enabling administrators and staff to easily see all points of access into the school. Pulling from the town's train and railroad heritage, the design team incorporated train themes throughout, with the library's "Creative Caboose" on central display. With smart and thoughtful design moves, the team was able to provide a high design school within the county's budget.
