Jemison High / McNair Junior High Schools

Named for the first African-American woman to fly in space as a NASA astronaut, Dr. Mae C. Jemison High School plans to open its doors to 1,100 plus students in August 2016. The 57-acre campus is located off Pulaski Pike south of Winchester Road, and features 227,000 square-feet of learning space, a tornado shelter, a 650-seat auditorium, a 2,000-seat competition basketball gym, and a plethora of collaborative leaning spaces – including an internet café adjoining the cafeteria. Career and Technical Education facilities include classrooms and labs for security technology, health science, logistic technology, in addition to five other disciplines.
Separated from Jemison High School by a majestic curved canopy measuring over 40 feet high and 40 feet wide, Ronald E. McNair Junior High School will open to its 700 plus students in August 2016 featuring a 250-seat cafetorium, a 500-seat instructional gym, and state-of-the-art-classroom within its 78,000 square feet.
The campus has a high school soccer field, football practice field, baseball and softball fields with three different field houses to meet the needs of athletic programs offered at Jemison/McNair.
