WellStone’s Pediatric Emergency Services Center was designed to meet the growing need for individuals to receive accessible and dignified mental healthcare in North Alabama. Prior to opening, over 800 children and adolescents were transported out of the county each year for care. As one of the first of its kind in the country, this ground-breaking facility serves as a haven for adolescents in the community seeking mental crisis care.

Playful colors and lines create a variety of comfortable spaces emphasizing client choice as part of the healing process. Clients can enjoy one of the many corridor reading nooks, interactive projector reward room, and the outdoor playground. This pediatric crisis unit provides a hopeful, nurturing, and child-centered environment tailored to the developmental needs of younger clients, Clients are prioritized through a dignified healing experience while providing cutting-edge behavioral health safety features.
